Forbes Magazine has ranked Bangkok of Thailand third on the list of most popular cities in the world to visit.
Forbes and Master Card have made a list of their global destination cities index for 2012. London and Paris are at the top of the list.
According to the magazine, the Temple of Dawn on the Chao Phraya River is among the world’s most famous destinations and the symbol of the city. It said the temple attracted around 12.2 million travelers last year.
The Thai capital is also among the top destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, with the highest tourist number and spending.
The magazine ranks Istanbul as the fastest growing destination, making it number 5 on the list, just behind Singapore, which ranked fourth. Despite economic slowdown, the number of people traveling overseas has been on the rise.
Master Card has named London as this year's world’s most preferred travel destination for foreigners, and also as the city that posted the highest tourist income. The city is estimated to have welcomed 16.9 million tourists, putting around 21 billion USD in circulation. -VNA
