The Vietnam Banking Association (VNBA) should coordinate its members closely to better serve the national economy and maintain stability of the monetary market.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong made the call while attending a ceremony to mark the 15 th founding anniversary of the VNBA in Hanoi on August 14. On the occasion, the association was honoured to receive the State President’s third-class Independence Order.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Trong praised VNBA’s remarkable contributions to implementing the country’s economic growth objectives over the past 15 years.

The banking system and financial companies are important capital channels that provide funds for business operations, thus helping boost economic growth, he said.

Established in 1994, VNBA now has 52 members, said VNBA President Pham Huy Hung, adding that its member banks have continuously developed with their combined charter capital increasing by 31 fold./.
