The “Mister and Miss Vietnam in Japan 2014” beauty contest wrapped up in Kanagawa prefecture on January 5, with the highest honours awarded to Nguyen Van Hieu and Pham Myuki.

The event is a cultural highlight for the Vietnamese community in Japan on the occasion of the New Year.

It drew the participation of Vietnamese contestants across Japan, who were then shortlisted to 12 men and 12 women for the finale.

Jurywoman Tong Kim Giao said the contest aimed to create a useful playground to unite Vietnamese people abroad, adding that similar events will be held in the time ahead to enhance overseas Vietnamese youth’s attachment to the homeland.-VNA
