A multi-sectoral delegation of enterprises from Flanders city in the northern part of Belgium met with local counterparts on Nov.16 Tuesday in HCM City to exchange information and explore business opportunities.
The visiting enterprises specialise in producing diesel engines, forestry exploitation, food, electronics, construction, energy and real estate, among others.
The directors of BNP Paribas Fortis Vietnam, an international bank, as well as Metro Cash and Carry Vietnam, a supermarket chain, spoke of their experiences in doing business in Vietnam .
Martin Cardoen, Belgium 's economic and commercial counsellor in HCM City also shared his insights with the visitors.
The delegation will continue to meet with local companies on Nov.19 in Hanoi before returning to Belgium .
Nearly 90 Belgian companies are operating in Vietnam at the moment, 66 of them from Flanders .
According to the Economic and Commercial Representation office of Flanders in Hanoi, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Belgium increased strongly in the last decade, from 377 million USD in 1999 to 1.36 billion USD in 2008 and almost 1.5 billion USD last year./.
