Prof. Dr Luc Hens of the FreeUniversity of Brussels has been presented with an insignia “For thecause of construction, protection and development of Hai Phong city.”
The award ceremony was held in the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 18.
On the occasion, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee NguyenVan Thanh also offered the scholar the city’s certificate of merit inrecognition of the Belgian professor’s contribution to Hai Phong’sdevelopment, particularly in environmental protection.
Over the last 10 years, Prof. Doctor Luc Hens, Head of the HumanEcology Department of the university, has conducted scientificresearches and provided consultation on environmental protectionserving the city’s socio-economic development master plan.
He also managed environment-related projects funded by Belgium and the EC to Hai Phong city.
The professor, together with his colleagues at the Hai Phong MaritimeResource-Environment Institute, has published more than 10 publicationson environmental protection in both English and Vietnamese languages./.
