Ben Tre coconut - A bright spot on Vietnam’s agriculture map

In Vietnam, the Southern provinces account for more than 80% of the whole country's coconut production. Among these provinces, Ben Tre has 72,000ha of coconuts.

With over 72,000 hectares of coconut, accounting for 50% of the total coconut farming area of Vietnam and 80% in the Mekong Delta region, the annual coconut output of Ben Tre reaches over 800 million fruits with shipment value exceeded 200 million USD.

The province’s coconut products have been exported to more than 50 countries and territories.

These values have contributed to affirming the coconut tree’s important role in Ben Tre’s socio-economic development. Its coconut value chain also play a role in the overall development of the national economy and in people’s cultural life.

This means Ben Tre has the largest output and export potential of coconut products in Việt Nam./.
