Big hydropower plant inaugurated in Lao Cai

The Ngoi Phat Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 72M was officially inaugurated at Bat Xat district in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on December 27.

The Ngoi Phat Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 72M was officiallyinaugurated at Bat Xat district in the northern mountainous provinceof Lao Cai on December 27.

Built with a total investment of2.068 billion VND (97 million USD), the three-turbine plant will addaround 314 million KWh of electricity a year to the national grid.

Constructionof the plant began on January 22, 2010 and was suspended in 2011 due tofinancial problems. Work at the site was resumed in June 2013.

Itsturbines No. 1, No.2 and No.3 were connected to the national grid inAugust, September and November this year, contributing to meeting theincreasing demand of power use nationwide.-VNA
