Pagoda, the largest Khmer pagoda in Vietnam, was inaugurated in Vinh
Loi district of the Mekong delta province of Bac Lieu on March 12.
The central chamber was built on 427.5 sq.m in Hung Hoi commune in 2001 at a cost of more than 10 billion VND sourced from the State budget and Buddhist followers’ contributions.
The central chamber reflects the harmonious combination of modern and ancient architecture of Therevada Khmer Buddhism and the essence of the national culture. The tops of its towers are decorated with dozens of dragons. It took around four years for artist Danh Sa Rinhong to carve the chamber’s different patterns, sand the Head of the Ghositaram Pagoda.
According to Head of the Ghositaram Pagoda Most Venerable Huu Hinh, the pagoda, which was built in 1860 and is the cradle for Buddhist study among monks, has trained more than 3,500 initiates./.
