Binh Dinh martial arts: A practice of strength and intellect

When speaking of Binh Dinh, its rich tradition of martial arts cannot be ignored. Nearly 250 years ago, the Tay Son army emerged from this very region, leaving an indelible mark with their remarkable military prowess. Remarkably, these ancient martial arts techniques continue to be cherished and preserved to this day.

Long Phuoc Pagoda in Phuoc Thuan commune, Tuy Phuoc district, is a place for locals to practice martial arts. Here, many books containing secrets of Binh Dinh martial arts are kept.

In 2014, the martial arts of Binh Dinh were recognised as a successful selection for Vietnam’s National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The province is currently home to nearly 180 martial arts schools and traditional martial arts clubs, boasting a collective of over 12,000 martial art enthusiasts. The shared ethos of these martial arts is not only to enhance physical fitness but also to cultivate a sense of responsibility, empowering individuals to wield their strength in defense of justice and contribute meaningfully to society./.
