All businesses hurt by disturbances in southern Binh Duong province last month have resumed their normal production and 98 percent of workers have returned to work, the provincial People’s Committee announced on June 10.
Local enterprises suffering from damage swiftly recovered, with support from the province in rebuilding facilities or renting alternative production facilities at nearest industrial parks.
The committee plans to announce the concrete figures given in financial support to affected businesses on June 18.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance teamed up with the province to hasten insurance payments for affected firms. As a result, 114.7 billion VND (5.41 million USD) has been paid to enterprises by insurance companies.
The province directed its departments, agencies and lower-level authorities to promptly handle administrative formalities to create more favourable conditions for damaged firms.
To date, the production and business activities at affected enterprises have gradually been stabilised and public order, security and safety for investors, consultants and labourers, both from home and abroad, assured.
The disturbances erupted on May 13-14 in central Ha Tinh and southern Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces, during workers’ rallies against China’s illegal dispatch of its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou – 981 in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
Some extremists incited others to destroy the property of foreign firms, the State, and private domestic businesses, and acted against law enforcement officials, disrupting social order and business activities. Thanks to the Government’s timely interference, most affected companies have returned to work and social order and security has been restored.-VNA
