Leaders from the southern province of Binh Duong and Laos’ Champassak province pledged to consolidate the mutual solidarity and cooperation in the 2016-2020 period during a meeting on September 12 in Binh Duong.

During the reception for the Champassak delegation, led by Party Committee Secretary and Governor Bounthong Divixay, Chairman of the Binh Duong provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Nam briefed the guests on the socio-economic development the province has made over the past years.

He stated that Binh Duong is now home to 28 industrial zones and eight industrial clusters, covering nearly 10,000 hectares.

In the first eight months of this year, the locality drew more than 1.4 billion USD in foreign investment, he said, adding that more than 2,500 foreign investors are operating in the province so far.

For his part, Bounthong Divixay expressed his wish that Binh Duong province will share with his province its experience in developing industrial zones and luring foreign investment.

The two sides also reviewed investment and trade cooperation in the 2011-2015 period, highlighting a project invested by Binh Duong’s Vietnam-Laos Dau Tieng Rubber Company to cover 10,000 hectares in Laos with industrial trees.

For bilateral collaboration for the next period of 2016-2020, the two provinces agreed to continue visit exchanges to enhance their friendship, solidarity and cooperation.
