The southern province of Binh Duong has encouraged its business circle to trial a new customs management system.
The Vietnam Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System/Vietnam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) – funded by the Japanese Government – is expected to benefit enterprises much more than the current method by minimising the intervention of customs officers in dealing with administrative procedures.
Deputy head of the provincial Customs Department, Duong Hong Hanh, said that since November 15, 2013, more than 1,600 enterprises in the province have registered to pilot the system, and 400 have run it on a trial basis.
To prepare for the application of VNACCS/VCIS, the department has publicised the system’s effectiveness, opened training courses for businesses and is supporting them throughout the pilot process.
According to the General Customs Department, VNACCS/VCIS will be officially applied from April 1 in parallel with the existing system and fully operational at all customs agencies from June 2014.-VNA
