Becamex Binh Duong made history by becoming the first Vietnamese football club to reach the semi-finals of a continental club football competition after beating Thai opponent Chonburi 2-0 in Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup quarter-finals on Sept. 30 at Binh Duong province’s Go Dau Stadium.

Brazilian Strikers Gaston Eduardo Molina and Philani Bhekizizwe Lancelot Kubheka each scored one goal to help Becamex Binh Duong beat Chonburi 4-2.

The victory makes Becamex Binh Duong the first Vietnamese football club to reach the final four of a continental club football competition.

“I am very happy now. This was a very tough game, but our team won,” Becamex Binh Duong head coach Mai Duc Chung said after the match.

“We tried our best, but we could not achieve the results we wanted,” said Chonburi head coach Kiatisuk Senamuang./.
