The southern province of Binh Duong took off to a good start this year after attracting over 120 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) in January alone, bringing the total foreign capital it has drawn so far to over 13.2 billion USD.

Of the capital registered in January, 116.5 million USD went to six new projects and 4.2 million USD were additional funding injected into operating projects.

Binh Duong is stepping up construction of infrastructure facilities in and around industrial zones and complexes, especially wastewater treatment networks and water drainage systems in order to fulfill this year’s plan of drawing one billion USD.

The provincial authorities are continuing reforms of investment climate and prioritise large-scale projects with advanced, environmentally friendly technologies.

In 2009 alone, Binh Duong attracted nearly 2.5 billion USD of FDI, of which 1.7 billion USD went to a project on Phu Long Hung housing project for low and middle-income earners./.
