Biomass power plant to be built in Phu Tho

A biomass power plant worth almost 1.2 trillion VND (around 59.16 million USD) will be built in Phong Chau town, Phu Ninh district, in the northern midland province of Phu Tho.
A biomass power plant worth almost 1.2 trillion VND (around 59.16million USD) will be built in Phong Chau town, Phu Ninh district, in thenorthern midland province of Phu Tho.

The Phu ThoPeople’s Committee recently granted an investment licence for theproject, which will be constructed by Vietnam High-Tech RenewableBiomass Energy Joint Stock Company, the provincial Department ofPlanning and Investment announced on October 18.

With a capacity of 40MW, the plant is expected to turn out 331.5 millionkWh annually, using modern technologies from G8 member countries.

The plant will contribute to reducing environmental pollution bytaking advantage of organic agricultural and daily-life waste products.

According to Ho Dai Dung, Deputy Head of theprovincial Department of Planning and Investment, the plant is scheduledto be operational in 2013 and offer jobs for nearly 3,500 localworkers./.
