A biomass power plant worth almost 1.2 trillion VND (around 59.16 million USD) will be built in Phong Chau town, Phu Ninh district, in the northern midland province of Phu Tho.
The Phu Tho People’s Committee recently granted an investment licence for the project, which will be constructed by Vietnam High-Tech Renewable Biomass Energy Joint Stock Company, the provincial Department of Planning and Investment announced on October 18.
With a capacity of 40MW, the plant is expected to turn out 331.5 million kWh annually, using modern technologies from G8 member countries.
The plant will contribute to reducing environmental pollution by taking advantage of organic agricultural and daily-life waste products.
According to Ho Dai Dung, Deputy Head of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, the plant is scheduled to be operational in 2013 and offer jobs for nearly 3,500 local workers./.
