Bird flu kept under control nationwide

Vietnam reported no bird flu outbreaks during the weeks since April 2, with the five provinces to have previously suffered scares experiencing no new cases, the National Steering Committee on Bird Flu Prevention and Control said on April 15.

However, the committee warned againstthe possible recurrence and spread of bird flu if localities do notstrictly carry out preventive works.

In addition, the Ministry ofIndustry and Trade’s Market Management Department suggested localitiesmaintain quarantine checkpoints.

The department continues tocoordinate with 19 provinces and cities to implement the project andprevent the transport and trade of illegally imported poultry.

Farmers are recommended to check the hygiene of farms and sources of small poultry before developing their farming./.
