HCM City (VNA) – The annual book street festival opened in Ho Chi Minh City on February 13 in celebration of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. 

The event, attracting 12 exhibitors with over 26,000 book titles, is taking place along Mac Thi Buoi, Nguyen Hue and Ngo Duc Ke streets in District 1 till February 19 (the fourth day of the Lunar New Year).

The festival also displays books about President Ho Chi Minh, the General Offensive in Spring 1968 and the development of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City.

On showcase are also books and e-books in the fields of education, science-technology, start-ups, finance-banking, as well as maps and photos featuring Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes, and achievements in the marine-based economy.

Speaking at the event, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Duong Anh Duc said the festival aims to bring meaningful reading experience to visitors and promote Ho Chi Minh City as an attractive destination.-VNA
