Borren steals the show at Asia-Pacific golf competition

He shot a two- under par 70 to lead by two from England's John Ambridge in the first round of the senior golf tournament.

Dan Acret from Australia and Douglas Williams from Hong Kong are a further shot back following the first round in the morning

The annual tournament, which has drawn over 100 players from 15 countries and territories, will continue on November 22 with many players still in contention.

The final round will be played on November 23.

Since the first golf course was built in Thu Duc in Ho Chi Minh City in 1993, the sport has grown swiftly in popularity and scale with many domestic and foreign investors vying for projects.

According to the Vietnam Golf Association, there are now more than 10,000 golfers in Vietnam at 30 operating golf courses.-VNA
