“Bourbon Street Jazz Festival” will begin on June 1, promising to bring the sound and taste of Bourbon Street, New Orleans to Ho Chi Minh City.

The event, organised for the first time in Vietnam by Kids First Enterprise, is a music and food festival that raises funds for the “Gift of Mobility” to help the needy kids and workers, some with disabilities, at the Kids First Enterprise factory in Dong Ha town, central Quang Tri province where wheelchairs are manufactured.

The locality is one of the poorest communities in Vietnam and is most affected by the residual of the war with the continued presence of dioxin and unexploded ordnance.

Audiences will enjoy New Orleans’ cajun cuisine and coolers and a smorgasbord of jazz-based and jazz-related acts by multinational artists.

The event will also feature talented Japanese jazz singer Shun Sakai, Andy J Forest from New Orleans and a selection of local-based bands including the Wanderlusters, Flightwave, Peche a la Mouche, On Fire and more. Dancenter will provide a jazz dancing show while Saigonbellydance’s artists will present their skills.-VNA
