Shares extended value on both national stock exchanges on January 28.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the benchmark VN-Index rose over 2.46 percent to 479.6 points as over half of component shares increased.

Total trading value remained high at 1.63 trillion VND (77.6 million USD), climbing 25.4 percent over January 25’s session on a volume of 107.35 million shares.

The VN30, tracking the city's 30 leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, grew 2.8 percent to 562.60 points.

Among the blue chips, 22 added value, but PetroVietnam Finance (PVF) plunged to its floor price and newcomer Casumina (CSM) and infrastructure company Becamex tumbled.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained nearly 1.5 percent over January 25’s session close to reach 62.52 points.

Advancers outnumbered decliners by 149-82.

Around 95.7 million shares changed hands, totalling a combined trading value of 745.3 billion VND (35.4 million USD), rising 37.7 percent.

The HNX30 also put on 2.7 percent to finish at 121.96 points.-VNA
