Hanoi will cooperate with Hungary’s capital Budapest in a project to build a water supply plant in the Vietnamese city in the near future.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Khoi on December 6 worked with Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Eszter Torda and General Secretary of the Hungarian Hydraulic Industry Cluster and CEO of Budapest Waterworks Csaba Haranghy to deliberate over the project.

Accordingly, the Hanoi Clean Water Service Company will team up with the Budapest ’s urban water supply JSC to carry out the project.

The project’s value is estimated at 5.766 billion VND (273 million USD). Once completed and put fully into operation by 2030, the project will have a total capacity of 450,000 cu.m per day.

The Budapest Urban Water Supply Company proposed to be main contractor of the project, which will use the official development assistance (ODA) capital provided by the Hungarian Government and several others.

At the meeting, the two sides concurred that it is necessary to build the plant, which is expected to help Hanoi realise its goal of supplying safe water to all inner citizens and those living in its suburb areas to match with Hanoi’s plan on clean water supply until 2030 with a vision to 2050.

The project will also contribute to further strengthening and tightening the friendship between Hanoi and Budapest.-VNA
