The Thai government has purchased 20 bullet-proof vehicles to ensure the safety of all leaders attending the 15 th ASEAN Summit slated for Oct. 23-25 this year.

Eight of the 20 Range Rovers were delivered to Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban on Oct. 6, according to the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT).

“The government has laid down efficient security measures for all leaders of ASEAN and dialogue countries,” said Deputy PM Suthep, adding that the vehicles, each worth 8 billion baht, will be used to welcome foreign leaders and VIP guests after the 15 th ASEAN Summit.

The 15 th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and related meetings will be officially organised from Oct. 23-25 in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi province and Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The Thai government resolved to invoke the Internal Security Act in the two venues in an effort to ensure the highest level of security for participating ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners.
