The Cambodian government has asked its overseas diplomatic offices to shorten the time needed for granting visa to foreign visitors and investors wishing to go to the country.

A January 17 document signed by Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong said the consideration of visa applications must be done in the shortest possible period of time so as to facilitate the influx of foreigners to Cambodia , thus helping boost the country’s tourism development and attraction of foreign investment.

The move has received positive response from investors as well as Cambodian travel companies who describe this as a practical measure to facilitate their operation.

According to Cambodian authorities, the country welcomed 4.2 million foreign arrivals last year, an increase of 17 percent over 2012.-VNA
