Cambodia is implementing a number of measures towards the goal of exporting 1 million tonnes of rice in 2015.

Minister of Commerce Sun Chanthol said his ministry will seek new export markets besides the major ones of China, Russia and several regional countries, while enhancing domestic rice production with improved technology and cultivation techniques.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has signed a memorandum of understanding on a loan of 300 million USD from China to build 40 warehouses across 9 provinces.

According to the Minister of Commerce, Cambodia’s total foreign trade in 2014 reached 18.1 billion USD, of which 7.7 billion USD was export turnover, a year-on-year increase of 11.6 percent.-VNA
