Cambodia has started the construction of the final section of national road No. 1 which links Phnom Penh to the Vietnamese border.

While addressing the groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 5, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that once the road is opened to traffic, it will meet the growing demand for efficient transport links between Cambodia and Vietnam .

The road will also create an economic corridor which will assist Cambodia’s national development programme, PM Hun Sen added.

National road No. 1 is 145 km long and the first section, which connects the Nek Loeung ferry crossing with the border, was upgraded four years ago./.
