The Cambodian government has called upon ASEAN member countries to further cooperation and take drastic measures to repress transnational crimes.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An made the call at the closing session of the Conference on Security Challenges Associated with Terrorism in Southeast Asia, which took place in Phnom Penh from August 17-21.

He said the fight against such dangerous crimes as terrorism, money laundering, weapon smuggling and piracy requires concerted efforts by regional countries and the international community as well.

ASEAN countries and relevant international organisations should further cooperation in the fight in order to maintain security, peace and political stability, serving the economic development of each country as well as of the whole region, he added./.
