China and Cambodia on December 13 agreed to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The consensus was reached during talks between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and the visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in Beijing .

Premier Wen Jiabao welcomed Cambodia ’s full participation to the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and its expansion of investment in China , pledging to encourage Chinese companies to increase their investment and help build special economic zones in Cambodia .

He also expressed his hopes of expanding cooperation with Cambodia in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, finance and human resources.

The premier called on both parties to increase the annual bilateral trade to 2.5 billion USD by 2015.

PM Hun Sen expressed his appreciation to China for its long-term support and assistance to Cambodia , stressing that Cambodia will work with China to boost the ASEAN-China relationship as well as maintain peace and stability in the region.

He also pledged for continued cooperation with China to increase mutual trust and expand comprehensive cooperation.

The Cambodian PM used the occasion to reiterate Cambodia ’s support for the “One China” policy and respect China ’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both countries signed 13 cooperation agreements on energy, infrastructure, finance and consular affairs.

During his visit to China from December 13-17, PM Hun Sen also plans to visit Tianjin City and Jiangsu province./.
