Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodian Appeal Court on May 10 upheld the convictions of 11 members and supporters of the now dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP).

Judge Plang Samnang said the court decided to uphold the Phnom Penh Municipal Court’s ruling and continue to detain the 11 individuals.

In 2014, the 11 individuals were given prison terms ranging from seven to 20 years, after they tried to reopen the only designated protest venue in Cambodia – Freedom Park – in July of that year.

Last mid-November, the CNRP was dissolved by the Supreme Court and 118 senior party members were banned from joining politics for five years.-VNA
