Vietnam will surely achieve its goal of becoming a modern industrialised country by 2020, the Phnom Penh Post (Cambodia) daily has said.

In its English edition dated Jan. 17, the daily said the ongoing 11 th National Party Congress in Vietnam has caught the interest of a large number of Cambodian people as well as foreign observers, diplomats and political analysts.

According to the newspaper, Vietnam will continue with its current reforms with clearer vision and will achieve its goal of becoming a modern industrialised country by 2020.

The daily commented that Vietnam will press ahead with a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development with openness, diversification and multilateralisation. It will speed up economic integration and prioritise maintenance of its ties with neighbouring countries.

It affirmed that Vietnam’s role in the region has been increasingly strengthened and broadened by actively joining and contributing to regional and international organisations, especially ASEAN and the Mekong Sub-region cooperation framework./.
