Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni has green lit the creation of a new province by removing a town and several districts from Kampong Cham, the second most populated province in the country.
According to the royal decree, the new province will be named Tbong Khmom, and shall include Suong town and the districts of Dambae, Ou Rang Ov, Kroch Chhma, Punhea Kraek and Memot.
The new province borders Vietnam’s southern province of Tay Ninh.
With the formation of Tbong Khmom, which was proposed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia will have a total of 21 provinces and four centrally-run cities.-VNA
