Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh on December 19 warned the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) of its unlawful acts in its daily protests against the Government.
The opposition party’s protesters’ demand that Prime Minister Hun Sen steps down or holds a re-election was out of date and their time has not come, said Tea Banh.
He declared Cambodia has its own law and the opposition cannot do anything unlawfully to achieve its outlawed ambitious goal.
Protesters were entitled to demonstrate, but had to comply with the nation's constitution and law to avert any negative impact on economic and social development, he stressed.
The official said the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) still keeps its door open to negotiations with the CNRP.
The political dispute between PM Hun Sen's ruling party and the opposition party has persisted since July's election results that showed the ruling party won a majority of votes to claim 68 parliamentary seats against the opposition’s 55 seats.
The CNRP refused to accept the outcome and has boycotted the new parliament since then.-VNA
