Cambodia inaugurated a National Council on Green Growth (NCGG) and a General Secretariat for Green Growth (GSGG) at a ceremony on March 19.

On the occasion, the country also announced a national strategic plan on Green Growth for the 2013-2030 period which was adopted by the government early this month.

The plan includes strategies on green investment and employment, development of a green economy in combination with environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, human resources, social security and preservation of the national culture and identity.

Prime Minister Hun Sen stressed that Green Growth is a key factor for the development of sustainable economy and environment through the effective usage of resources, saving energy, clean development and preserving natural heritages.

Cambodia established the National Council on Green Growth and joined in the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in response to the Green Economic Strategy initiated by the United Nations last June.-VNA
