An FM radio station broadcast at a frequency of 94MHz whose construction was implemented by The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was inaugurated in Cambodia’s northwestern province of Banteay Meanchey on November 29.

At the ceremony, Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharidth thanked the Vietnamese Government for funding the construction of 12 radio stations across his country since 2008, helping Cambodia expand radio coverage to all corners of the country, especially in rural areas.

The new station will facilitate people’s access to information from the National Radio Station and also serve as a bridge linking residents and authorities in dealing with local socio-economic issues, he added.

Over the past years, The Voice of Vietnam has also assisted Cambodia in operating radio facilities and producing programmes.

An additional four Vietnamese-funded radio stations are expected to be operational in Phnom Penh and other localities in the time to come.-VNA
