Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Bank and Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia (RGC) Sao Sokha have valued the valuable assistance of Vietnam’s Defence Ministry for the RGC and other armed forces of Cambodia in general.

They expressed their deep thanks to the Vietnamese ministry at a ceremony to inaugurate a Vietnamese-funded multifunctional training building at the RGC Training Centre in Kampong Chahnang province on July 14.

Such assistance has helped modernise the Cambodian army and improve the quality of its human resources, thus maintaining security, stability and development in the country, they said.

The building, the biggest training facility of the RGC Training Centre, is a vivid manifestation for the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two countries, they added.

Also at the ceremony, the Royal Cambodian Army kicked off construction of the headquarters of the RGC Training Centre, also funded by the Vietnamese ministry.
Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung, Vietnamese Defence Attaché in Cambodia, stressed that the Vietnamese Defence Ministry’s building of infrastructure facilities for the RGC reflects the solidarity, cooperation and mutual support between Vietnam and Cambodia.

This also forms part of activities to mark the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam – Cambodia diplomatic ties, he said.-VNA
