Cambodia: Official map used in border demarcation with Vietnam disclosed

Cambodian Senior Minister in charge of border affairs Var Kimhong unveiled the official map that the Royal Government of Cambodia has been using in border demarcation and marker planting with Vietnam on July 2.

At a press conference at the headquarters of theCouncil of Ministers, Var Kimhong stressed that the Cambodian BorderCommittee is planting markers along the two countries’ border based onthe map recognised by the United Nations in 1964.

Headded the disclosure of this map was decided upon by Prime Minister HunSen to satisfy the opposition party and end ambiguity and imagination.

Analysts said the revelation of the official mapused in border negotiations with Vietnam was related to a meeting of thecountries’ Joint Border Commission scheduled to be held in Cambodia’sSiem Reap province from July 6-8.-VNA
