Hanoi (VNA) – The Phnom Penh Court on October 17 postponed the interrogation of opposition leader Sam Rainsy to November 8 as recommended by the lawyer.

On March 10, 2016, Som Soeun, Minister Attached to Prime Minister Hun Sen sued Sam Rainsy for posting comments on his Facebook page which affected the reputation of PM Hun Sen as well as Som Soeun himself.

He asked the court to prosecute and force Sam Rainsy to compensate 20 million Riel (approximately 5,000 USD) for spiritual damage.

Sam Rainsy has been on exile since November 2015 to avoid his two-year jail sentence for defaming Deputy PM Hor Namhong in 2008.

On July 28 this year, the court fined him 10 million Riel (2,500 USD) and forced him to compensate National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin 150 million Riel (27,500 USD) also for defamation.

On October 6, 2016, the Cambodian Prosecution Agency issued an order summoning Sam Rainsy for interrogation on the incitement causing chaos on September 11.-VNA
