Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on March 7 agreed with a proposal on building a system of state and private bank branches along the borderline with Vietnam .

The proposal, submitted by the Ministry of Commerce, aimed to make it easier for the two countries’ cross-border trade which has long faced payment difficulties in the absence of banks in the border areas.

Cambodia and Vietnam share a borderline of more than 1,000 kilometres with 10 international border gates, 12 main border gates and 25 auxiliary ones.

Two-way trade between the two countries reached 3.3 billion USD last year, increased by over 17 percent against 2011. It was set to be 5 billion USD by 2015.-VNA
