Cambodia welcomed an estimated 4.5 million international tourists this year, up 6 percent from 2013, according to Tourism Minister Thong Khon.

He reviewed that 3.59 million foreigners visited the country in the first ten months of this year, up 5.9 percent year on year.

He estimated that 550,000 Chinese spent their holidays here in the year, a yearly rise of 20 percent and revealed plans to attract at least two million Chinese tourists by 2020.

Tourism is one of the four major pillars of the nation’s economy, accounting for 16 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

Cambodia is famed for two cultural sites in the World Heritage List, including the 12th century Angkor Wat Temple and the 11th century Preah Vihear Temple.-VNA
