Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on June 18 expressed his regret with his Thai counterpart's comment who wanted the Preah Vihear temple to be jointly registered as the world heritage site, local media said.

“I think that his words on behalf of the Thai Prime Minister have disturbed the peace of another country,” Hun Sen was quoted as saying at the Cambodian foreign ministry.

The local Phnompenh Post newspaper cited Cambodian’s Council of Ministers spokesman Phay Siphan as saying that with the 11th-century temple already inscribed on UNESCO's list, the international community was unlikely to fall for Thailand's “uncivilised” ruse.

The comments came following Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva’s announcement on June 17 that Thailand would ask UNESCO to review its decision to list the controversial temple as a World Heritage site when the world body meets in Spain next week./.
