Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian police have confiscated over 30 tonnes of counterfeit cosmetic products in a raid in Phnom Penh last week, the Counter Counterfeit Committee said on May 30.

The seized cosmetics and skin whitening lotions had been illegally imported from neighbouring countries and distributed in Cambodia without quality certificates.

Those products are suspicious of causing dangers or long-term impacts on consumers’ health.

This was the third crackdown on counterfeits in Cambodia in the year.

Earlier this month, authorized agencies seized a total of 68 tonnes of fake cosmetics, including shampoos and skin whitening creams, during two raids in Phnom Penh and southern Kandal province.-VNA
