Cambodia sets date for ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia will host the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMMR) on January 18-19 in the northern city of Siem Reap, reported the Khmer Times newspaper on January 7.

The event is the first important meeting hosted by Cambodia in 2022 as the country is assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship.

At the meeting, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers will share their views on resolutions and challenges facing ASEAN this year.

Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs Prak Sokhonn told a recent workshop on Cambodia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022 hosted by the Yusof Ishak Institute that the retreat will be the first major ministerial meeting to deliberate the realisation of decisions and plans agreed on last year, and a chance to discuss new initiatives that will further advance the building of the ASEAN Community./.
