Cambodian and Thai defence officials on December 3 vowed to further enhance cooperation along the border for mutual benefits.

The pledge came after a two-day meeting in Phnom Penh which was co-chaired by Secretary of State of Cambodia's Defence Ministry, Gen. Neang Phat, and Director of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters' border committee, Lieut. Gen. Boonchu Kird-chok.

According to a joint statement released after the meeting, both sides discussed and agreed on two topics covering 17 issues for bilateral cooperation, including joint work on border checkpoints, labour, trade, health, tourism, prevention and suppression of drug and human trafficking and other crimes, and counter-terrorism as well.

The meeting formed part of preparations for the 10th Cambodia- Thailand General Border Committee’s meeting slated for December 22 in Cambodia, with Cambodian and Thai defence ministers in attendance.-VNA
