Cambodia-Thailand border returns to normal

Border issues between Cambodia and Thailand have been solved after four meetings between the two countries’ prime ministers, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Dec. 6 in Phnom Penh.

The situation in the Preah Vihear temple area was restored to the former conditions ahead of July 15, 2008 when the two countries’ forces clashed.

Earlier, PM Hun Sen and his Thai counterpart, Abhisit Vejjajiva discussed statutes on bilateral ties and joint efforts to ensure peace along the common borderline.

Cambodia is scheduled to celebrate the 60 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries in Phnom Penh on Dec. 19 and invite Thai Foreign Minister Kassit Piromya.

Cambodia and Thailand have recently held a series of cultural exchanges to improve relations, including a visit to Thailand by a Cambodian journalist delegation led by Information Minister Khieu Kanharith, a joint concert in Bangkok which was broadcast live on the two countries’ TV channels./.
