Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia has agreed to increase the monthly minimum wage for apparel and footwear workers from 140 USD to 153 USD from January 2017.

The decision was declared after months of discussion, which received support from most of representatives from the government, factories, businesses and trade unions. 

According to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the wage increase will improve living standard of apparel and footwear workers and boost and productivity.

The apparel and footwear sectors have contributed 6 billion USD to Cambodia’s economy annually and created jobs for about 600,000 workers.-VNA
