Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia’s COVID-19 Vaccination Commission has announced the start of the vaccination campaigns for 5-year-old children from November 1.

This will be the fifth rollout to run simultaneously in Cambodia. The first started with adults aged 18 and above on February 10, the second involving adolescents aged 12 to17 which started on August 1, the vaccination of children aged six to 12 which started on September 17, while the booster dose for frontliners started in early August.

The number of children in the age group this time has not been revealed but this exemplifies Cambodia’s determination to vaccinate 91 percent of its estimated 16 million population (2019 census) by the end of the year with at least one dose of the vaccine and become one of the most vaccinated nation in the world.

Cambodia on October 31 reported 95 new COVID-19 cases and 7 new deaths. It is the first time since April the country’s daily caseload has run below 100.

It has so far documented a total of 118,522 COVID-19 cases with 2,788 fatalities.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Foreign Ministry has announced the country is to admit visitors from another 17 countries, including Vietnam, without quarantine if they have been fully vaccinated from November 1, increasing the number to 63.

To be eligible for the no-quarantine scheme Thailand Pass, visitors from any of those countries must have stayed there for at least 21 days in a row prior to their departure, and received their second COVID-19 vaccine dose at least 14 days before their flight to Thailand.

They must also have an RT-PCR test that returns negative for Covid-19 no more than 72 hours before their flight and general health insurance cover of at least 50,000 USD./.
