Cambodia trade increases 9 percent

The import-export turnover of Cambodia in the first two months of this year reached over 2.8 billion USD, up by 9 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The ministry’s latest statistics show that in January and February, the country earned 1.3 billion USD from exports, an increase of 13 percent in comparison with the same period last year. The main exports included garment and agricultural products.

In the reviewed period, Cambodian importers spent 1.6 billion USD purchasing garment materials, construction machines, transport vehicles, oil, food products and fertiliser.

Cambodia’s major partners are the US, the European Union, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Canada, Thailand and Vietnam.

Economic specialists describe the increase as an impressive development by Cambodia and its effective integration into the global economy.-VNA
