Phnom Penh (VNA) – The US pledged to work with Cambodia on maritime security at a meeting on April 21 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

General Neang Phat, Secretary of State for the Cambodian Defence Ministry and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and Southeast Asia Amy Searight discussed efforts to ensure regional maritime security.

Searight pledged that her country will actively work with Cambodia on maritime security issues.

For his part, General Neang Phat expressed his hope that military ties between the two nations will become closer in the future.

Searight visited Cambodia one day ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who will meet Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen and his Cambodian counterpart Phrak Sokhon.-VNA
