A delegation from the Cambodian Royal Army led by General Dieng Sarun, Deputy Chief of Staff of High Command of Guards, paid a Tet visit to the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on February 11.

At the reception, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Vo Minh Chien expressed his wish that the friendship and solidarity between the two nations be further consolidated in the future.

The living conditions of Soc Trang people, especially Khmer ethnic people, have much improved, he added.

He said he hoped that Cambodian army officials, especially the General, will make more contributions to tightening the friendship between the two countries.

For his part, General Dieng Sarun said he was pleased with positive changes in the life of Soc Trang people, particularly the poor and the minority.

He thanked the Vietnam People’s Army in general and the Soc Trang people in particular for their help for Cambodia in the struggle against the Khmer Rouge regime in the past as well as in the current national construction.

On the occasion of Tet, the General wished the Soc Trang authorities and people a happy and prosperous new year./.
