hit some provinces in the coming days.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on September 4 that the country is suffering from the impact of three natural phenomena, namely a depression, tropical storm Kajiki and southwest monsoon, which has caused heavy rainfall in some provinces.
The PM noted according to the weather forecast, the water levels in the Mekong River in Stung Treng, Kratie and Kampong Cham provinces will rise higher than the alarm levels, starting from September 8 to 10.
Therefore, ministries and institutions concerned as well as local authorities have to take necessary measures to prepare against the disaster, he said, adding that saving people’s lives and maximally reducing damage to their properties must be the most important tasks.
On September 3, the country’s Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology also warned of heavy rainfall and strong wind at sea from September 3 to 10, and advised maritime travelers and fishermen to be extra-vigilant in order to avoid any possible dangers. It said for coastal provinces, especially Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong, there will be moderate-to-heavy rainfall.-VNA
