Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Cambodia Supreme Court has ordered leader of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) Kem Sokha to prepare documents in response to a petition filed by the Interior Ministry to dissolve the party.

According to the subpoena inked by Judge Sem Sakola on October 9, Kem Sokha has 20 days to prepare and send relevant documents to the court.

On October 6, a group of lawyers on behalf of the Interior Ministry submitted a petition to the Supreme Court to ask for the disbandment of the opposition party, based on complaints from the Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) on October 4 and FUNCIPEC Party on October 5 accusing the CNRP and its President of committing treason.

Kem Sokha has been captured on September 3 for the accusation. Prime Minister Hun Sen on October 2 announced that competent authorities will arrest other people with connection to Kem Sokha’s treason.-VNA
